I read an Opinion article that was quite touching today in “The Wall Street Journal,” (dated Tuesday, April 5, 2022), “Civilian Volunteers Are Ukraine’s Secret-Weapon,” by Jillian Kay Melchoir, a Journal editorial writer.
Civilians with minimum training have “helped build barricades, patrol roads and territory, and even attack Russian convoys and capture enemy soldiers.”
As one refugee explains, I don’t “…consider myself a victim, not weak, but strong, active [and doing] everything I can to make our victory closer.”
As many as 1 in 4 Ukrainians our of about 43,000,000 people, have been displaced. That’s HUGE!
These Ukrainians help in a multitude of ways such that “Soldiers at the front line can rest assured that someone is looking after their wives and children.”
There is real and abiding strength in self-defense versus cruel aggression.
Pray for Ukraine’s FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, and lasting PEACE!
