An Innovation Hope

On Monday, May 24, 2021, Yahoo Finance from Reuters disclosed that “construction materials supplier Martin Marietta Materials Inc. said it will buy Heidelberg Cement AG’s assets in California and Arizona for $2.3 billion.”

I once did extensive audit work at Martin Marietta in New Orleans related to the external tank for the shuttle.

Bill Gates in his extraordinary book “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster,” explains that the process of making cement produces carbon dioxide and “there’s no way around it.” He also illustrates graphically how the United States made 4.3 billion tons (1901-2000, a hundred years) while China made 25.8 billion tons (2001-2016, sixteen years.)

My hope and prayer is that Martin Marietta Materials Inc. will innovate with research – perhaps with China – to attack this huge gap in humankind’s attack on climate change – without waste or corruption.
