OURSELVES

Professionals (neuroscientists, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc.) will tell us that most of the contents of our minds is in our subconscious – at least on a moment to moment basis. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s just a fact.

But what does it mean to us?

After many years of thought, prayer, live experiences, psychoanalysis, formal study, reading, Sunday school, sermons, loving, all sorts of emotions; I have come to at least one worthwhile conclusion as follows;

>Listen to oneself.

How in the world can one improve without such a practice?

Another important point, probably most critical, is my deep belief that God made each of us and all of us with a mind, body, and a “little piece of God.” And, “God is love.” Thus, somewhere in our neurons (or perhaps throughout our whole body), in everyone, dwells LOVE.

At the Gandhi Research Institute in India, I heard Mr. Michael Nagler, a Gandhi expert, deliver a wonderful keynote address on Gandhi’s birthday. In it he explained how scientists have determined that the natural state of humans is peaceful. From a purely subjective and personal perspective, I agree.

A final piece of advice; through our conscious selves, let’s feed our minds with generous amounts of truths, love, kindness, good thoughts, creativity, wonder, ethics, morals, faith, prayer, empathy, knowledge from formal study and doing, good deeds, and the bountiful beauty of all God’s creations.
