Government can’t make make widgets, but it can be so top-down through high taxation and regulations that widgets are NEVER invented, much less manufactured. NEVER underestimate the profit motive of free enterprises.
With Xi and his top-down emphasis on State Owned Enterprises and regulations, China will head in the WRONG direction, in MANY, MANY, MANY ways.
