OUR RESILIENCE

In “The Wall Street Journal,” dated September 4-5, 2021, Dr. Bonanno, a professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University examined the 9/11 tragedy and Post-Tramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He explains that in “…almost any trauma or mass disaster, in the early days many people are likely to feel considerable distress.” But he concludes that a majority will demonstrate “…a clear resilience pattern beginning relatively soon after the event.”

Dr. Bonanno laments, “We don’t have to relearn this lesson with every mass tragedy.”

This gentleman’s explanation of how resilience kicks in is timely as to all affected by Hurricane Ida.
